RAVEL : CHAMBER MUSIC
Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon, Frank Braley – 2002
Chamber music is central to Renaud Capuçon’s career and he regularly performs with his brother Gautier and the young French pianist Frank Braley. Their first recording together is an all-Ravel programme, centred on two chamber masterpieces, the Piano Trio and the Violin Sonata in G. This disc marks Gautier’s recording debut: born in 1981, he was Victoires de la Musique’s Young Talent of the Year for 2001. Like Renaud he is a dedicated chamber musician and his astonishing musical maturity is shown in the Duo sonata, while the programme also includes the early (1897) Violin Sonata – a lyrical, isolated movement written for Georges Enescu.
